LINGUISTICA COSMICA: THE BIRTH OF THE «COSMIC PARADIGM»
Author/authors:
S.N. Kuznetsov
UDC: 81-119
Annotation: The cosmic paradigm had appeared long before the first sputnik was launched in 1957. The paradigm comprises
astronomical, mythological, litterary and linguistic components. In Russia this set was enlarged by the political component, the associative link to the Russian Revolution understood as a cosmic phenomenon. The paradigm realized itself in the creation of a first lingua cosmica : the language AO, designed by V. Gordin in 1919, as a language of international communication on a purely aprioristic basis. In 1927 the language was presented at the first exhibition of interplanetary travels as a language of cosmic communication. The ideological foundation of the language was a special branch of anarchism (pananarchism), while the material forms of the language were linked to the same sources as futuristic poetry. The first variant of the paper was published in French: Kuznecov S. Linguistica cosmica: La naissance du paradigme cosmique // Une famili?re ?tranget?: La linguistique russe et sovi?tique. Paris, 1995 (Histoire ?pist?mologie Langage. 17/II [Tome XVII — fascicule 2]),p. 211—234
Keywords: anarchism, AO (language) , artificial language , cosmism, esperanto, grammatical categories, history of linguistics, ideology, interlinguistics, K. Ciolkovsky., universal language , V. Gordin,
